Notes
It was the first user group meeting of 2026. Olivia reviewed the E-Resource Working Group SharePoint site, including where to find all the upcoming meetings and Zoom links for the year, archived projects, and documents. Olivia reviewed the charge and responsibilities of the group. The Working Group discussed new electronic sources added since the last meeting and some that have been canceled, or not renewing.
Olivia also reviewed the Palace Project including what happened. Initially, the Palace Project was being researched by SWAN as a possible consortium purchase with its own collection, apart from other vendors, such as OverDrive, Boundless, etc. With Baker & Taylor announcing that they were going to cease operations end of 2025 being announced, RAILS eRead Illinois had to act quickly in order to find a new partner to house the collection. That partnership is also going to make the Palace Project available to all RAILS libraries in Illinois. As a result, SWAN is no longer pursuing a consortium purchase of Palace Project. The focus is on transitioning eRead Illinois libraries to the new platform and later in 2026, any other SWAN libraries that wish to take advantage of the new partnership will be available. Olivia will also address the outstanding Palace Project questions from the last Working Group meeting in September 2025. Olivia will add responses to the document available in SharePoint since they were not addressed as planned during the meeting.
The group then reviewed the responses to the Google Form sent out the previous week regarding library pain points and possible solutions for electronic resources in the library. A new Miro board was introduced with those responses and the group participated in Dot Voting to prioritize a problem/solution for the group to work on in 2026.
Olivia also asked the group to review the following SWAN Support pages on troubleshooting e-resources:
- Link to page E-Resource Troubleshooting for Library Staff
- Link to page Catalog Help > E-Resources section
Tasks include just double-checking that images are current, unsupported vendors are no longer mentioned, and steps still make sense. If there are any changes to be made, Olivia invited the group to either email her directly, or to add changes to the Miro board on Troubleshooting E-Resources, the link can be found on SharePoint.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 28.
