Aspen 26.09 and 26.10 Release

Submitted by Tara Wood on

This month, we have been updated to the 26.09 and 26.10 release. This release includes the following enhancements and fixes.

Customizable font sizes in the web catalog

Libraries can set a customizable font size for base themes in the web catalog, with a choice of Small, Medium, or Large. This can be set in Themes > Font Size.

Patrons can also set a preferred font size in My Account that will display when they are logged in.This can be set in My Account > Preferences > Preferred Text Size.

Improvements to Author limited searches

Previously, a search for "John Green" limited by Author could match records that included any contributor with the first name of "John" and any separate contributors with a last name of "Green", giving some results that are less likely to match the intended search.

As of this update, these searches will match on the full name of a single author, or direct the user to a keyword search if no matches are found. Previously, a search for "John Green" returned over 200 results, and now the search returns around 140 results.

App interface updates

The underlying design system for the app has been updated, which improves performance and also lays the groundwork for custom app themes. In addition, this release includes several accessibility fixes. We expect to be able to roll out custom themes for library apps sometime in 2027.

Additional updates and bug fixes

  • Caching issues that caused barcode display issues were addressed in a patch to 26.08 and is resolved in 26.10.
  • Grouped works for periodicals with records for each year should display in year order now.
  • Filters in the Titles on Hold screen were not clearing when the Clear Filters button was used; this is now fixed.
  • Palace holds showed as Unknown in holds filters; this is now fixed.
  • Some buttons in My Account were not keyboard accessible, including Export to CSV; these are now keyboard accessible.
  • We are now live on version 3 of the grouped works indexer; this is a major update to the indexer, and it lays the groundwork for more precise search filters in the future.
