Live - Automatically applied keyword filters in Aspen

Submitted by Tara Wood on

A new feature in the catalog to automatically apply filters based on a keyword search is now live. Terms for certain formats, languages, and audience will strip those terms from the keyword search and instead apply the correlating filter. For example, a search for "lego playstation" will search for "lego" and apply the various Playstation formats in the catalog.

You can find more on keywords and the filters they will trigger in our Aspen filters and facets documentation.

If a patron wants to clear the automatically applied filters, they'll have the option to Restore original search from their search results.

Thank you to our Discovery & User Experience and Cataloging working groups, who worked together to build our initial configuration! This will be an ongoing project as these groups look at other keyword filter triggers that could be helpful.
