Recommendations to observe the ALA Resolution to Protect Library User Confidentiality in Self-Serve Hold Practices
Limit the amount of personally identifiable information on hold wrappers. Fields to include on hold wrappers:
- Patron's last name limited to the first 3 letters
- Patron's barcode limited to the last 4 digits
- Hold pickup by date
To obscure the material being requested by the patron, you can shelve the material spine-in, or cover the spine with the hold wrapper.
